I love that you’ve written this. There is someone in my family who often says to me, at family gatherings: are you okay? What’s wrong? My resting face must look quite serious. But I can be feeling really quite content and yet look ‘unhappy’ because I’m not smiling. I have something planned, for a Substack piece, around perceived coolness (as in: ‘cold’) with female autism. Hi Andrea, this was interesting for me as when we moved in the same circles at work, I often thought you were genuine (rare in that world) considered and detailed, taking in the whole picture to get a holistic solution (& thinking about the details others missed!) rather than the hugely frustrating band aid so favoured by the many around you.

I thought your approach was a great strength & that there was (some sparse) room for this approach in senior roles, but my time never came for that!

I hope you feel proud of what you achieved in retail & thanks for giving a glimpse of how its been for you. That resonates, combined with the internal retail fast fashion culture that has little time for deep thinking or a considered approach. Ugh. I'm really sorry that was your experience. I looked up to you & your success gave me a glimmer of hope! :-)
